Implant Restorations

Single Implant-Retained Crowns

An implant is a titanium replacement for the root of a natural tooth. It is placed in the jawbone and becomes fixed (rigid) over a usual period of about 4 months. After this time, a connector (abutment) is added to the implant and held in place with a gold screw. A porcelain cap (crown) then cemented over the abutment.

Multiple Implant-Retained Crowns and Bridges

This same process can be used to replace multiple teeth. The crowns can be splinted together to created a stronger unit and cemented over multiple implants. This is known as an “implant-retained bridge”.

Implant supported Overdenture

For patients who are missing all the teeth on one or both of their jaws, 3 or more implants can be placed to help secure a removable denture. The implants are connected with a gold bar and the inside of the denture will have gold “clips” in it. It will snap onto the bar and help retain the denture without slipping and sliding. This treatment greatly improved the denture stability especially for those who have a minimal bony ridge.
